Get to Know Derek George
With 29 years of experience and a track record of success spanning more than $2.9 billion in transactions, Derek George brings an exceptional depth of knowledge to S. Watts Group. His career has encompassed leadership roles in acquisitions, development, financing, asset management, and strategic partnerships, providing him with a comprehensive perspective on every stage of the real estate lifecycle.
Before joining S. Watts Group, Derek founded and served as the Managing Principal of Imperial Advisors and was a Founding Member of Highbar Holdings, both based in Austin, Texas. His experience also included senior leadership positions as CIO at Lynd Commercial Properties, Managing Partner at Capital Commercial Investments, and roles at Rubin Pachulski, Bear Stearns & Co., and Enron Capital Trade Resources.
Derek’s work has included the development and redevelopment of downtown properties across Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston, as well as leading sale-leaseback acquisitions across multiple U.S. markets. His strategic vision and ability to navigate complex transactions make him an ideal fit for S. Watts Group’s client-focused approach.
His passion for innovation and market development ensures that S. Watts Group continues to identify and execute on opportunities that deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.
Derek earned his BA in Economics with a minor in Biology from Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business. In addition to his professional experience, he actively serves on several advisory boards, including the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, National Senior Campuses, Texas Regional Bank, Rett Syndrome Research Trust, and Evitar Corporation.

Tito’s Handmade Vodka
Our team is currently completing a 12,350-square-foot interior build-out for Tito’s Handmade Vodka. The project involves a full demolition and reimagining of the existing office, featuring premium finishes, custom wood and metal paneling, a contemporary breakroom, and demountable glass fronts. This space is being crafted to mirror the brand’s renowned attention t detail and artisanal spirit.
City View Center, Suite 130
At City View Center, S. Watts Group is converting 6,700 square feet into a modern speculative office suite. The renovation includes new private offices, open collaboration zones, and a refined breakroom area. Designed for adaptability and efficiency, this fresh workspace will be ideal for tenants seeking a flexible and inspiring environment.
Germer
We’re honored to once again partner with Germer for a 25,137-square-foot, full-floor renovation at Barton Oaks Plaza V. Building, building on the success of our 2020 collaboration. This project features new private offices, upgraded finishes throughout, and an optimized layout to enhance comfort and productivity. Working alongside Aquila and Interior Architects, our team is delivering a sophisticated workspace tailored to Germer’s evolving needs.
