The Barton Oaks Dental Group project involved remodeling their existing dental office and expanding into an adjacent 1,500-square-foot suite, resulting in a 5,100-square-foot facility. The primary goal was to seamlessly tie the two spaces together, creating a functional, modern, and patient-centered healthcare environment.
Delivering Precision Through Collaboration
Close Coordination with Equipment Providers:
We worked hand-in-hand with the office’s dental equipment provider to schedule equipment upgrade swaps, mechanical and electrical rough-ins, and the installation and startup of new equipment. This seamless integration was vital to ensure that all systems were operational and met the practice’s requirements.
Collaboration with Architects and Designers:
By maintaining an open line of communication with the architect and design team, we were able to customize millwork designs that optimized space for workflow, equipment accessibility, and usability. These tailored solutions were developed in partnership with the client to align with their vision and operational needs.
Proactive Communication with Clients and Subcontractors:
Weekly meetings with the site supervisor, subcontractors, design team, and client played a pivotal role in keeping the project on track. These sessions confirmed construction progress, addressed upcoming milestones, and planned for required access to occupied spaces or after-hours work.
Overcoming Challenges and Exceeding Expectations
One of the key challenges was maintaining a fully operational dental practice during the remodel—a necessity because people’s health can’t be tied down to a schedule, and patients need to continue receiving care when they need it. To address this, our team carefully planned after-hours work and collaborated closely with the client and subcontractors to minimize disruptions. Weekly meetings with all stakeholders—including the client, design team, and subcontractors—were instrumental in aligning timelines, coordinating access to occupied spaces, and ensuring a seamless transition between project phases.
Special attention was given to:
- Equipment Integration: Coordinating with the dental equipment provider for upgrades, installations, and rough-in requirements.
- Specialized Systems: Ensuring plumbing, medical gas, and drainage systems met precise specifications.
